How To Treat Acne And Scars Due To Dried Off Acne?

Hi, I am 37 year old female. I used to have very clear skin and have never encountered any skin problems so far. But since the last three-four months I have started having painful acne in the face, especially cheeks and chin region. There are multiple of them with pus also accumulating. I met a dermatologist who suggested taking DOXT-S tablet once a day for four weeks, applying nadoxin cream and using emolene cream as a moisturiser. I have been doing this for the last three weeks, but do not find much change. Now the face is full of scars from the old ones and new ones are appearing each day. This is severely affecting my self confidence as well. Is there any treatment that could be suggested to tackle this issue?

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

Acne, specially inflammatory ones, need to be tackled aggressively else they might leave behind disfiguring scars.

At this stage you need to treat your acne, acne scars can be tackled later on once your acne activity is under control.

I would have also liked to know whether you have any irregularity of menstural cycles? Any coarse facial hair? This would give an idea whether your acne is hormonal. In case of hormonal abnormalities treatment of acne with traditional medicines is ineffective.

If I was your treating dermatologist I would have asked you to take an oral antibiotic either Doxycycline or Azithromycin for 4-12 weeks depending on the severity of acne.

Benzoyl peroxide works better than nadifloxacin(nadoxin) in case of inflammatory acne because of its antiinflammatory and keratolytic action.

Oral retinoids are one of the most effective antiacne medicines which are recommended in case of severe or acne unresponsive to traditional medicines.
