How To Treat Cyst On The Right Ovary?

Am a 50 (almost 51) yr old female 5'5 116 lbs. I have high blood pressure and high cholesteral (sp) I've have been going thru menopause. I had 2 periods last yr , the last in OCT 2010 until recently. I bled for 11 days with huge clots and pain before going to my gyno. He did a uterine biopsy and and vaginal ultrasound. The diaganosis was disordered proliferative endometrium and a cyst on my right ovary. He has put me on a hormone pill ten days for 3 months. I'm told that this is going to make me bleed AGAIN and probably heavy. I'm no doctor and this Dr is new to me, but giving me something that is going to make me ovulate and bleed AGAIN (after 18 days of it) seems a little condtradicting and frightening to me? Is this the normal treatment for this type of diagnosis? He has ordered a different ultrasound for the cyst that he found btw, but that won't be done for 6 more weeks? Your thoughts please, as I'm considering getting a second opinion, even if it mean enduring that biopsy AGAIN! Also it's worth noting that my doctor did not explain to me in answers that I can understand what exactly disordered proliferative endometrium is? Thank you for your time.
