How To Treat Edema After Hernia Operation?
hi i had a hernia opp 4 weeks ago but also had an infection but cleared up,i have just gone to doctors as i have pitted carfs they told me it was edema,and just to wear stocking, I no i shouldnt be reading up on edemas but it has frightend me am i going to die eventualy as i have a five year old and need to make plans, it says its a couse of heart deseise is this the case and can it be cured, wot do i do next.

Heart disease is possible cause of edema but there are other causes as well. If you have no history of heart disease or no risk factors for heart disease then it is not likely that the swelling is due to this.
Surgery can cause swelling to occur in the following weeks so this is a likely cause.
The other causes of leg edema are venous disease (varicose veins) liver or kidney disease
Blood tests can be done to check the liver or kidney.
