How To Treat Headache?

My 16 year old son sustained a concussion playing football on Sept 29. He missed a week of school and then slowly returned to school and finally to football playing in a game October 13 and October 19. On Monday, October 22, he called from school to say he is having headaches and followed up with saying that he was still having headaches all along but wanted to return to football. He is now out of school again this week and sleep a lot. How do we know when we can send him back to school again and is it normal for headaches to last this long

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

A headache can be of many reasons. The most common being migraine. Other causes can be cluster headaches, stress headaches etcetera. If headaches are too frequent need to go to a general practitioner for history and examination to come to a diagnosis. Usually, no preliminary scans are required. Graded analgesia was given for treatment and is easily control. Lifestyle modification is also advising like decreasing tea or coffee or alcohol and smoking whichever can be triggering factors.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Abhishek Kumar
