How To Treat Insulin Resistance/carbohydrate Sensitivity?

Hi,

I believe I have insulin resistance/carbohydrate sensitivity as I cannot maintain weightloss unless I stay below 50 grams of carbohydrate per day. Also, despite my blood work showing great insulin/blood sugar levels (likely due to my extremely low intake of carbohydrates regularly) my 2 hr post prandial is always higher than my 1 hr. I am not overweight but struggle greatly to maintain. Have hypothyroid, with family history of diabetes and thyroid illnesses. My dr doesn't believe in insulin resistance. What should I do?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Insulin resistance is a possible cause for difficulty losing or maintaining weight loss.

The ratio of triglycerides to HDL cholesterol is sometimes used to determine if a person is likely to be insulin resistant. If your triglycerides/HDL is greater than 3.5 (men), 2.5 (women) then it is likely that you are insulin resistant.

If you are having difficulty with weight control, you may want to consult a bariatrician (weight loss doctor), who may be able to help you.

I hope this helps
