How To Treat Knee Swelling And Joint Pain With History Of Rheumatic Fever Infection?
Dear sir, I am 24 years old and I am suffering from swelling in knees on both legs and joint pain. Blood and urine tests were done.In blood test RBC and WBC counts were normal, ESR-52 mm/hr, haemoglobin-11.3. There is 2-4 pus cells and 3-5 epi. cells hpf in urine. 14 years ago I was diagnosed with rheumatic fever. Now ASO is 180 only. I consulted a doctor and he said rheumatic fever is gone. He gave iron tablets and told to drink lots of water. Then what is the reason for swelling? Should I consult another doctor? Please reply sir. My knees swell recurrently since rheumatic fever infection.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Devesh Bandil's Response
Hello dear I am understanding you have swelling in both knees and had a history of rheumatic fever earlier in life Ur counts show increased esr what I suggest is you should get blood work for rheumatism as you may be suffering from synovitis of bilateral knee secondary to rheumatism. You should get ra factor and anti ccp investigations and get the knees aspirated if lots of swelling though it's best to consult with an rheumatic specialist. If u still have questions do write in again
