Hi, thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. This pain can be due to
: Simple head injury
:
Trapezius muscle sprain
Head injury presents as pain on bony contour, some swelling,
redness, warm skin, pain increases on pressure, no effect of movement. Pain will increase after vigorous shaking.
Muscular pain presents as pain over muscle, no swelling/redness/warm skin, pain increases on stretching muscle like with neck movement (flexion), pressure on muscle increases pain.
You can correlate his symptoms. Direct injury can cause any type of pain. Treatment is
: Bed rest
: Apply icepacks at injury site in both types of pain
: For head injury pain, you can take
Diclofenac sodium after prescription while for muscle injury, take Thiocholchiside-Diclofenac tablet after prescription. Usually medication gives relief in 5-7 days and no need after that.
: Avoid pressure at injury site
: In muscular pain, stretching and
massage of muscle help in relieving pain.
: Avoid extreme movement of neck or head
Hope it will help your son. If still in doubt, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.
