Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Most common sites affected in Rheumatic fever is heart valves and joints.Penicillins eg which you got amoxicillin is for prophylaxis and to control existing infection.Acetylsalicylic acid and NSAID like naproxen is used to control the acute episode. An echocardiography should be done to rule out affection of heart.ESR and C reactive protein is also checked to find out activeness of disease.Penicillin G prophylaxis should be continued for a long term.I usually give my patients for 2 to 5 years.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
