How To Use Mirena If The Cervex Is Too Tightly Closed?
I went to have a mirena coil fitted yesterday but my doctor was unable to do it as he said my cervix was too tightly closed- I have had a mirens for the previous 5 years so its not my first. Why is this? Also although he didn't attempt to insert the coil he did examine me and I am now bleeding, not heavily but significantly with very slight period type pain- is this normal?
Sometimes insertion of IUCD like Mirena coil may become difficult even on second time of insertion. The measures that can help you are: - Usually IUCD is advised to insert during 5th or 6th day of the menstrual cycle, so that cervical is will be softer and easy to insert and also contraception can be maintained to that month. - Using vaginal Misoprostol few hours before insertion can help for easy insertion. - Vaginal infections, cervical erosion etc can be seen while using IUCD sometimes. These can lead to spotting while examination. Local and systemic antibiotics can help in it.
Minimal spotting due to friction of examination will subside soon without treatment. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
