Huntington S Disease. Alcohol. Not On Medication. Further?
My sister has Huntington's Disease and has cut down on her medication by half, exhibits symptoms more obviously, has started to drink (again) and refuses to go to M.D> because it's "too expensive," until she is covered by MEDICARE in August. M/D? B. Scott has treated her here in N.C. Where can she be placed to better deal with her problem(s)?
Dear Huntington disease is a neuro degenerative genetic disorder that affects muscle coordination and leads to cognitive decline and psychiatric problems. Mental ability gradually decreases into dementia. Commonly chorea can also be present with other symptoms. Clinical intervention of a Psychiatrist as well as a neurologist are usually advised. Physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy and psychiatric management gives some relief. In every case Huntington Disease needs support from family, and other medical specialists. Therefore, please consult appropriate specialist at the earliest.
