Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Note: I know this is the wrong place to post this, but I couldn t find anything else :/ I m 15 years old, and I found a softish bump on my knee cap. It showed up a year or two ago, and I never think about it, because it usually doesn t hurt. I kneeled on it today and it hurt a tad bit, so I squeezed it, and it popped. That s happened twice. And it started to bleed, so I knew I was done with it. The puss looked like it was just an infection. But if you do know what it is, please help me. I m pretty worried :)
Hello, Thanks for writing in. From what you say, it looks like a cystic swelling around your patella region of knee joint. In simple terms it is a fluid filled structure present since two years, slowly growing. The commonest swellings around patella could be due to bursitis and you need to go to an orthopedic surgeon for further guidance and treatment. He may ask you to get X rays or scans of the region. Nothing to worry but you must see the doctor soon. Hope this helps.
