Welcome you to healthcaremagic community forum. Takayasu's disease is one of the inflammatory conditions affecting large arteries. Since this is a chronic condition, the treatment will be a chronic one. Apart from the steroids, cytotoxic drugs, immunomodulators are other class of medications that are used for treatments. Steroids form the first line of treatment as they are more effective treatment and its side effects compared to other class is less significant. Other drugs are used if steroids are ineffective. I would recommend you to continue with the steroid therapy as suggested by your doctors. Surgical options are the only remaining other option if you do not wish to use these medications, however, the feasibility has to be discussed with your doctor.. I understand what is going through both physically and emotionally, but do not lose hope. Things are not doomed. You will be able to lead life as normally as possible with regular treatment. Wishing you a bright future..

Sorry to say that but you are one of the unfortunate person in this world. 1 to 3 person out of 1 crore people will have this disease.this disease affect the person in the younger age group especially female.

Please dont waste your time and consult the best immunologist and Rhemutologist as soon as possible.

Doctor has to start a treatment plan which will consit of obviously steriods and other concerned medicine.Which will stop the further damage from this disease.the already damage done cannot be corrected by the medicine.surgery may be the only option which can be done ,that also is suggested if the disease is controlled or cured.
