In Car Accident Broke Femur Bone. Screws Inserted To Hold Rod In Place. Recommended To Remove Screws. Exercise And Therapy Not Much Help.Suggestions?

1 and 1/2 years ago I was in a car accident and my right femur was broken in 2 places. I have a rod and 3 screws to hold the rod in place. A specialist recommended that I have it all removed 6 months ago as I was still so sore and tender in the thigh area. It is not as sore since I have done more therapy and exercise for the last 5 months, but the knee stiffness gets old and somewhat the screw on the inside of my knee. I can't hardly lay on my side. I have to put a pillow between my legs, and even in a while I am uncomfortable and go to my back and to sleep. I have only about 114 knee bend. I am beginning to walk up and down stairs a little with out having to hold on. But this is a slow slow process.
Should I go for removing all sometime soon or not.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query
Well after going through your case I understood that physical therapy which u under gone was not done perfectly they should do mobilization and have to strengthen hamstring and quadriceps muscles. If u done with that then your body weight will be bared by quadriceps and hamstring muscles then your bone carries less pressure then u can easily overcome with the pain, sore, tenderness of your leg......... and your knee should get full range of bending as u completed 5 months of operated but because your physiotherapist was not mobilized your knee after surgery that was the reason made your leg stiffed to 114 deg and now its time to walk your self by placing full weight bearing on effected side also so please consult good physiotherapist to over come your problem. If u want any query post to me
Hope this information helps you
