Infant Has Cold, Is Cranky Due To Difficulty In Breathing. Medications To Be Used?
Hi there!!! I am a first time mom..I have a five monnth old baby and i am so wooried of him last night. He has colds since yesterday and he was crying during the night. I believed it s because he can t breath through his nose normally. Please can you help me find a medication and effective intervention for my baby to get well soon. Thank You.
If you feel he din`t sleep well because of nasal block, you can try plain saline nasal drops, one drop in each nostril three to four times a day for about three days.
But you have to be sure that he has no associated ear problems that might make him cranky.
Middle ear problems can happen in association with cold, more often in bottle fed infants.
If symptoms persist or he gets fever or not feeding well, its better to see your pediatrican.
Hope I answered your question.
Hi Crystal,
Thanks for writing your query.
One of the common cause of disturbed sleep, in cold, can be due to nasal blockage.
You can put one or two drops of normal saline nasal drops in the each nostril at a time.
These nasal drops are easily available at the chemist shop and are very helpful in curing blocked nose due to cold.
Also keep the room temperature at a comfortable level.
If the problem persists, get him examined by a Paediatrician.
I hope this helpful to you.
Thanks.
