Infant Suffering From G6pd Deficiency, Stool With Froth And Mucous. What To Do?
hello doctor, my son has completed 4 months today.he is g6pd deficient.day before yesterday and yesterday his stool was green and i have seen some hairs in it.today once his stool was green with lots of mucus . he passed stool 5 times.every time with mucus.now the stool is yellow but with froth and mucus.i m worried.plz help me doctor.as he is g6pd deficient i m more worried for my child.

Hi, Pl Do not worry.
g6 PD will cause problems rarely in these situations.The child has probably viral gastroenteritis- get his stool examined in view of the mucus in it.Give him ORS solution like electral or electrobion 1-2,0z every 3-4 hrs and watch him.This will take some time to improve.Rest of the treatment depends on stool result.Good luck

Your child seems to have Gastroenteritis which may be due to a virus.
You can give probiotic like lactobacillus sachet once daily.
Continue breast feeding frequently.
Give sips of oral rehydrating solution like Pedialyte to prevent dehydration.
Don't give any medication without prescription of a doctor as your child is having G6PD deficiency.
Consult your Pediatrician for examination and medication.
