Infant With White Patches On Cheek, Nose And Eyebrow. Cause For These Patches?
hi, i have adopted a baby when he was 1 day old and now he is 2 months 3 weeks, when he was in 2 months iI noticed some white patches on the cheeks, near nose , eyebrows, chin and on his back. My baby born with smooth skin. Can you please help me with this. I don t understand what exactly it is and why it was caused. how can we get rid of it........

White patches occur commonly on babies. Even though there are several causes for white patches most common cause is what is called pityriasis alba. Not to worry regarding the complicated name. These patches require no treatment and subside on their own. Application of moisturising lotion or oil like coconut oil may help.
If the problem persists some of the doctors prescribe low dose steroid for local application.

There are a few skin conditions which leads to white patches on the skin like Pityriasis alba ,pityriasis versicolor,hypopigmentation disordes,birth marks etc.But this being an adopted child we need to know any hpopigmentation problem in parents .Since we dont have the details a thorough skin examination by an expert is required if it due to some infection it will be corrected with creams .
