Infected Ear Lobe Piercing, Painful, Swelling, Pus, Blood. On Antibiotics. What Can Be Done?
I have an extremely infected ear lobe piercing. It is very painful, swollen and oozes pus and blood. It has been like this for a few weeks but has become drastically worse. I cannot physically remove the earring and it is extremely painful anyway. I've managed to remove the back but cannot pull it out by any means. I'm on accutane and have been told that my doctor will not prescribe antibiotics. What should I do?
Hello, I went through your complaints. Occutane may be tried for acne. It has lot of side effects. What you have is mere infection. It will not heal till the ear ring is removed totally. Check your blood for sugar. Take antibiotic and anti inflammatory drugs. Meanwhile the pus has to be given for culture and sensitivity to diagnose the exact organism in growth and appropriate antibiotic to control it. As early as possible under antibiotic cover remove the balance of your ear ring by local anaesthesia. Continue the appropriate antibiotic + anti inflammatory + local application of antibiotic cream till the wound get healed Once the wound is completely healed - after 6 months or one year after consulting Dr you can wear ear ring made of metal which is not allergic to you Best wishes
