Injured Right Shin With Swelling And Bruising. Is An X-ray Essential?

My son got kicked in his shin during soccer game. The kick dropped him to the ground and he had to have help off the field. Immediately, we noticed some swelling and bruising to the right of his shin. I don't know if he should have an X-ray or not.

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

I don't think he need X-ray at present. He can be managed with pain killers,anti-inflammatory drugs and rest.
Ice packs can also be applied.
If there is still some problem then X-ray can be done in AP/Lateral view to confirm fracture.
Hope i have answered your query.

Take Care
