Injury To The Hand. Severe Pain On The Knuckle. No Swelling. Pain Medication?
I was playing tennis yesterday and after about 1 1/2 hours, after hitting a forehand the area between my index finger and middle finger became so painful I could not hit another ball. I noticed the majority of the pain came from the back of my hand, not the palm side, and was most noticeable near the base of the middle finger knuckle, next to the index finger. What could be the cause of this pain and what should I do? I iced it immediately and there is no swelling or discoloration.
Hello, The structure of wrist is complex and there are various types of muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments which make it. There can be various causes for your problem ranging fom strain or sprain to dislocation and fracture. Your history of events suggests your problem to be just some sprain or strain epwhich would require total rest, regular icing and oral intake of anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day. If ou don't become all right or if your problem worsens, then you might have to consult an orthopedician for getting an MRI done and look for any particular cause and its subsequent treatment. Thanks
