Inserted IV On Hand, Swelling In Eyes, Painful. Had Lower Blepharoplasty. Help?
I had a lower blepharplasty under general anesthesia yesterday. I had an IV inserted in the top of my hand. Today from my wrist half way up my arm is extremely swollen and painful. I also have a large lump on the side of my arm sort of where the swelling stops that is extremely painful. I am two hours away from my surgeon so I can't see him today, but I talked to the nurse and she said not to worry about it. Also my eyes are so swollen I can hardly see. Should the be this swollen and bruised a day later?
Hi, It seems that due to extravasation of blood from vein giving rise to local hematoma. There is a possibility of having thrombophlebitis as well. Apply ice pack on the part. Having swelling in the eye might be due to some induration following surgery. I think oral antibiotic might have given so this antibiotic will work for swelling on hand and eye. If not given, antibiotic may require. Consult your doctor earlier and get examined. Ok and take care.
