Intense Pain In Joint In The Toe. Due To Wearing Improper Shoes While Playing Soccer?

I have intense pain after contact with the joint in the toe that moves the toe nail up and down. I can touch it and squeeze it with no pain. I play soccer and got that injury while playing soccer and I took a while off. Shortly after i returned the pain continued again. It swells up very little and on the top side where the joint wrinkles are the skin is slightly darker than normal. I think the problem are my shoes which are too flexible, but what can i do to get back on the field as soon as possible and what is it?

hi there, your discription fits that of a nail bed infection which is causing the infected material usually pus or edematous fluid to accumulate at the junction of the nail bed and the skin.As it is a long standing infection the change in the colour of the skin is seen. You should visit a general physician or a surgeon who will make a small incision at the swollen area and drain the pus so that it relieves you of the pain and some antibiotics will need to be prescribed to take care of the infection. This is my opinion but the attending doctor may vary in his opinion once he examines your condition. So take his advise and take care.
