Irregular Period, Fibroids In Uterus. Done Vaginal And Pelvic Ultrasound, Endometrial Biopsy. On Progesterone. What Now?

I am 39 and in the last six months I went from having normal periods (I've always been regular, like clockwork) to a really light period one month, then a heavy period the next, skipped a period, light one again, then I had two 3 week long periods. One started normal, started getting light, then suddenly heavy again for a day, then light, then heavy again and so on. This was the case with my last two periods. Went to GYN and she had my blood tested and vaginal ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound done. My results of the blood test showed .6 for progesterone, 15 for iron, and a low Vitamin D count (don't remember what number she told me) I am now taking iron and Vitamin D supplements as well as 200 mg of progesterone daily. Mu ultrasound showed two small fibroids on the uterus and an enlarged uterus (20cm) and a very thick lining. She did an endometrial biopsy right then and there. Nurse called and said biopsy shows no cancer, but Doc wants me to come in and go over the results. What could I expect? I am so scared.

Hi dear,
small fibroids in the uterus are very common and sould not be a matter of concern if they are not located near the uterine cavity. In that case also they will result in heavy and frequent bleeding.
A history of enlarged uterus associated with thicened endometium and amenorrhoe followed by heavy bleeding goes more in favour of adenomyosis.
This, at present can be taken care of by medical management but yes you have to be under constant follow up

First of all don't get scared having small fibroids doesnot means that it is a cancer.
But the age is advancing and hence it is required to get tested. If something is getting disturb then we should be aware of it. Small fibroid's in this age are also common and similar complaint regularly may lead to the stage of malignancy.

Hence, it is recommended to keep checking with your medical reports at every particular interval. especially when you comes near to 40.

Rest of the things are your own wish if you donot have any problem then their is no need. However plan your medical checkup for every particular interval.
