Irregular Periods With Reduced Bleeding, Tender Breasts. Is This Menopause? On Birth Control
Hi I m 45 my periods have always been heavy but regular now they are infrequent maybe 2 months apart but can also be 2 weeks apart not as heavy as when young but still about a week long is this the menopause . breasts are now very tender a week before hand never used to be. I also have a implant for birth control about 5 yrs now. Thanks

Thanks for using the HCM. I am happy to address your questions, yes during menopause, a woman's ovaries stop making eggs and they produce less hormones causing symptoms. Periods occur less often and eventually stop. Sometimes this happens suddenly. But most of the time, periods slowly stop over time. Menopause is complete when you have not had a period for 1 year. The first thing you may notice is that your periods start to change. They might occur more often or less often. Some women might get their period every 3 weeks. This might last for 1 - 3 years before the periods completely stop. In addition to irregular menstruation there is increased stress, breast tenderness, vaginal dryness, forgetfulness, mood changes, and in certain cases of osteoporosis and heart disease.
