Is BP Medicines Necessary Inspite Of Having Plaque Build Up In Artery?

I had a cardiac catheterization 3 days ago. No severe blockage, so no stent, They did find some plaque buildup on the outside of the artery. Not sure of exact details yet. They put me on Crestor, Plavix and Toprol for blood pressure. My blood pressure has never been high, in fact just last week it was 100/60. Even during a stress test the highest it got was 134/72. Why are they giving me blood pressure medicine?

Thanks for asking to healthcaremagic. I understand your query.
Brief answer:Yes,particularly beta blocker drugs like metoprolol considered beneficial
Detailed answer:
I believe, they didn't put you on toprol(metoprolol)mainly with an intention to reduce the blood pressure(actually doesn't influence BP much when taken orally )rather to prevent angina, infarction and reduce the mortality associated with coronary artery disease by decreasing heart's perfusion demand.I would also prefer adding metoprolol at optimized dose considering the blood pressure to the patients of ischemic heart disease.Hope I have answered your query. If any questions, happy to answer you.Take care.
