hi my name is liridon i am 27 i had epilepsy since 7 years and i used to take aplim 500 mil now iam taking depakin 500 mil and last time i had a seizure befor 4 and half years i uesd to take one twice a day now iam taking one every day what should i do i haven consot anyone about my medication please help
Hi. The minimum dosage of depakin in an adult usually is above what you're taking. It depends also on your weight, lowest dose is 10mg/kg. However if you have had no seizures in over 4 years one could consider interrupting treatment altogether. There is a risk that seizures might return, there's no guarantee on that, but since you seem to be already undermedicated you can hope for the best. It's absolutely not something you should do on your own though, you should discuss your seizure type and history with a neurologist beforehand, it's done not abruptly but lowering the dose very gradually over the course of several weeks. An EEG would also be a helpful predictor.
