Is Hydrochlorothiazide Same As Triamterene-HCTZ Medication?
Dr. Grief, I was recently diagnoised with Meneires disease. In trying to find the proper dosage of medication to take to manage my symptons I was at one time prescribed - Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg. That didnt seem to work. I have now been taking Triamterene-HCTZ 37.5- 25mg once a day. I have been having success with this. However, I have a 2 months supply of the Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg now that I spent money on and am not using. If I take 2 of the 12.5 mg is it the same as the Triamterene 25mg? I would hate to waste this prescription. Jeanne Wood

I can understand your worry let me tell you that both Hydrochlorthiazide and Triamterene are diuretic and generally these given in combination for hypertension they both have same mode of action more or less because shares the same indication, hope this information may helps you, have nice day.
