Is Oxycodone The Reason For Positive Result In A Morphine Test?
I submitted to a urinalysis today at my pain management doctors office, and I tested positive for morphine. I do not take morphine, but I am prescribed oxycodone. Could this be the reason I did not pass the test? Also, I am not the first patient at this clinic to have this problem. Five other people I know that do not take morphine tested positive last week and when the results came back, it showed they had not taken any morphine. I just want to know if oxycodone could be the reason the test said I took morphine or if it is a faulty test?
A standard MSP urine drug screen includes opiates, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine metabolite and methadone metabolite only. Additional tests (e.g. fentanyl, hydromorphone, oxycodone, buprenorphine) must be requested individually and explicitly. For example, if the patient is on oxycodone only, order a urine drug test and a urine screen for oxycodone.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
