Is Triamterene/HCTZ Safe To Use To Help With Altitude Sickness.
I ve had some issues with acclimatizing to high altitude and sked my doctor about Diamox. He didn t recommend it but prescribed Triamterene/HCTZ 37.5/25 instead. I don t have High Blood Pressure so I m wondering if this safe to use to help with altitude sickness.
I am so sorry to hear about this altitude illness. A afraid you would need to talk to your doctor to under the exact reasons why he prescribed this medication. It is primarily used in the treatment of high blood pressure and I have never heard of it being used to treat attitude illness. It would be a wise idea to ask him if it were intentional and what his experience about it is. I very much wonder if it would help for this condition.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks. Dr. Ditah, MD.
