Hello Docotor, My Mother is having blood sugar level of 350 now and a week back it was 310. Currenly she is taking medicine as prescribed... None of our family members/grand parents had suffered from diabetes before. It is for the first time she is suffering now and there are symptoms like weight lost, hungry and thirst since couple of months.. 1. Please suggest me whether having sugar levels of around 350 is too dangerous...? and will there be chances of getting heart problems..? 2.Our doctor prescribed only tablets.. is there nessecity of taking insulin? 3. Please share me about what kind of food/diet she can take.?
Dear Sir/Madam, Welcome to HCM, Blood sugars of 350mg/dl is definitely high. Since she has been diagnosed recently tablets will work. The sugars may come down slowly but with good diet, exercise , weight loss and adequate dose of medicine. For now the best option is to be patient and follow the regimen suggested by your Diabetologist. Please keep checking her FBS, PPBS Get back for any further queries Dr.Riyaz Sheriff
