Is Body Temperature Of 96.5 In A Toddler Concerning?

Should I be worried that my almost 3 year old s temperature has been around 96.5? I m not sure how long it s been like that, but I ve never noticed it that low before until i took her to the dr a week ago because of a persistant cough, and the nurse took it 5 times with 2 different head scanners. I just took it tonight and it is still in the same range.

Hello,

Nope, I wouldn't worry. If everything else if fine, your 3 year old just has a different resting body temperature. It's interesting you would ask though because just a few months ago there was a new study arguing that 98.6 is no longer normal, but that over time we've 'cooled' down to an average of about 97.5 as a human species. That means some people higher baseline and some people lower. If your child is well, then that's all that matters.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
