Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello,
As you are having cough for last one week gor which your doctor has prescribed clarthromycin and symptoms has come down for some time but your symptoms are not cured.
The viral infection will take some time to reduce your symptoms and as you asked for the use of cotrimoxazole is an excellent drug which helps you toreduce the symptoms if you are resistant to clarthromycin.
I would suggest you to wait for few more days before you shift to this drug. Drink plenty of fluid and take antihistamine in addition to this. Thank you.
