hI mY SON HAD A TONSILLECTOMY 6 DAYS AGO. HE BAGAN EATING A BIT ABOUT THREE DAYS AGO BUT NOT MUCH. HE HAS HAD CONSTIPATION EVER SINCE HE HAD THE OPERATION. I HAVE GIVEN HIM 2 SUPPOSITORIES IN WHICH HELPED HIM USE THE BATHROOM. IS THIS NORMAL AFTER A TONSILECTOMY.
I have gone through your query and can understand..
As per your complain constipation does not seems to be a side effect of tonsillectomy but there is a most probable chance that he is suffering from constipation due to side effect of medications [antibiotics and painkillers] that might be given to him pre and post surgery.. I would suggest you to consult his treating surgeon and get evaluated and explain his immediate symptoms and he can advise him to reduce the dose of the medicine and along with it he can also advise him to take stool softeners and laxatives for easy bowels.. You should also give him Psyllium husk and more of fibrous foods for increasing the volume of stools and ease in excretion.. Give him more of fluids..
Hope this information helps..
