Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my 13 month old has ulcers on her tongue red swollen gums very tired fever highest 105.5 had a fever for 5 days. greyish coating noted on some teeth. went to doctor and was diagnosed with croup but I doubt it now. these symptoms did not come about until the next morning. What could this be? She was playing with toys at the dentist office the day before and I think she picked up something there. I am taking her back to the doc in the morning.
Understanding your concern. As per your query symptoms such as ulcers on tongue, swollen gums along with high fever seems to be due to dental infection such as gingivostomatitis. I don't suspect this to croup as your child has no symptoms of breathlessness and decreased activity. I would suggest you to visit general physician once and get it examined again and get blood tests done. Start treatment after proper diagnosis. You should give child antibiotic along with Ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Apply Dologel on tongue and oral cavity. it will soothen ulcers of oral cavity. Give child plenty of water and liquids. Give multivitamin tablet as well.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
