Is Hip Replacement Recommended At 89 Years?

Hello Dr. My mom is 89 years old and lives in Africa. She had a fall about a week ago. Fractured her hip, the doctors say she needs a hip replacement, but l'm afraid my mom will not make it as she is in very poor health. she had a stroke a few years ago and cant speck. She has high blood pressure, and is diabetic. Please Help.

I really appreciate your concern for your mother, if your mother has a history of stroke then thinking bout such major surgery is risky age also matters you better discus this with her doctor ask for better alternative, hope this information helps you, take care and have nice day.
