Is Hip Replacement Required When Having Hip Problems With Pain And When Using Walker To Walk Around?

I have been having hip problems for awhile... the pain can be really bad. Also, the area around the hip and buttocks appear to be wasting away...
My primary doctor did suggest seeing an orthopedic, but said only if I was prepared for a hip replacement. I don't think it is that bad. I do use a walker most of the time to get around.

Hi
I think from your symptoms youvhave limping gait so for sure you have hip pathology so first of all you should get x ray of hip done and if needed ct scan hip should be done.
And if you have severe damage to neck of femur or severe osteoarthritic changes then you have to go for total hip replacement. But it is better you consult your near orthopaedic surgeon.
Get well soon.
Thank you.
