Is Isotretinoin Or Deriva Cms Gel Better For Acne Treatment?

I have mild to moderate acne with lot of pigmentation marks. I wanted to start myself on isotretinoin but my dermatologist is of the opinion my acne is not severe enough to warrant oral drugs and has advised topical application of Deriva CMS gel. Which is the better option? I sort of want quick results.

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
The treatment of acne depends on the grading of severity.
Isotretinoin is no doubt a very good drug for the treatment of acne, but it is associated with significant side effects, which have to be monitored for.
Hence, it is prudent to utilize this drug only in moderate to severe cases.
Use the gel as suggested by your dermatologist or you could use 1 % clindamycin gel in the morning and a combination gel containing 0.1% Adapelene with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide at bedtime.
You could use a face wash containing 2% salicylic acid.
Do not pick or scratch your pimples. This is the main reason for the marks to develop.
You could get salicylic acid peels done by your dermatologist.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
