Is It Necessary To Remove Wire Found In Area Between Inferior Vena Cava And External Iliac?
I recently had a CT Enterography done initially to test me for Crohn's and by surprise, was told that a wire was spotted in the area between my inferior vena cava and external iliac. We determined that this wire was left behind during either one of two permacath insertions for plasma pheresis treatment, either in 2005 or 2006. That means the wire has remained in my body for at least 5 years, and we had no idea about it. Removal of the actual catheters at the time was very difficult, as bleeding didn't want to stop for as long as an hour and a half on both occasions. Would removal of this wire be necessary, since it has been left in so long already? Does keeping it in pose any risks at this point? If I attempted to have it removed, would my past problems with my blood taking a very long time to clot be a factor in risks of removal?
Hi, dear. I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You are in very tricky situation. You should not operate for that wire if you don't have any problems or symptoms with that. Because it remain inert in your body and not causing any problems. If you try to remove that, there is a chance of complications. Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
