Is It Normal For A 2 Week Old To Vomit After Being Fed By Nan Pro 1?
Hello doctor. My niece of 2 weeks is vomitting every time she s being fed Nan Pro 1. Is this a sign to worry about or is it normal in newborns? And what s the remedy for it? Since giving her water is not an option, what s the immediate measure to be taken after she vomits?
Hello. Thank you for your question. Most babies spit up to some degree. Some more than others. I agree with you that water is not an option. So here is what to watch for. If the baby is comfortable, without fever, and gaining appropriate weight, there is nothing to worry about. Keep in mind that babies tend to lose some weight in the first few days of life and it can take up to 2 weeks to regain the weight. Your niece, being 2 weeks old at this point, should be gaining. If she has fever, it could be a sign of infection. If she is irritable, it could be a sign of reflux. If she is not gaining weight, there could be many causes, but the most common one is intolerance to the formula. In that case a different formula may be required. If any of these symptoms accompany the vomiting, you must consult with your doctor. If not, I wouldn't worry.
