Is It Normal To Be Asked To Go To A Colposcopy Straight Away?
hi
i had a colposcopy done in 2006 and i have done my smear regulary each year ...2 weeks ago i had my yearly smeart and this week a letter to say i have to go back for a colposcopy....but last year results were clear...is it normal to be asked to go to a colposcopy straight away...though they would just ask me to return for a smear in 6 months to see if the cells are back to normal?..(.i have a coil too this 2009 and do have tummy cramps very often.).
HI Well come to HCM Thank for asking to HCM From the history given here I could say that I will not advise my patient for regular colonoscopy if no clinical symptoms are there and if my patient is doing well then why to go for that, just for the pain it could be due to colicky pain, and it can be managed with antispasmodic. If the patient is suffering from the bad infection or some systemic disease and given some line of treatment then it would be necessary to go for colonoscopy to watch the healing process then no question arise for doubt one has to follow the given advise. Although colonoscopy is not the routine procedure. hope this information helps.
