Is It Normal To Experience Nausea While Having Severe Posterior Left Sided Headache?

I had a really bad pain like a headache, it was on the back bottom left side of my head. This was at the night time and couldn't sleep, whatsoever. The pain was so bad i was crying. I also had nausea and did end up throwing up. Could this just be normal or something bad?
