Is It Normal To Get Panic Attack Symptoms When On Progesterone For Unusual Bleeding?
I am a perimenopausal 50 year old that has just been prescribed progesterone for unusual bleeding (been on my menstrual cycle since January 21. I am supposed to take 2 pills a day til the bleeding stops then one thereafter. I took my first dose yesterday and an hour or so later started to get panic attack symptoms that disappeared after about an hour. I have been extremely exhausted since and am afraid to take my next dose. I was wondering if it is normal to feel anxious with slight heavy breathing and extremely fatigued with this medicine. The bleeding has lessened to a great degree.
Panic attacks are not a commonly noted side effect of progesterone but irregular breathing is commonly seen with the use of progesterone. As you are experiencing side effects I would advice against the next dose of the pill without consultation with your prescribing doctors approval.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
