Is It Normal To Have An Increase In Bp And Heart Rate After A Change From Atenolol To Lisinoprin?
i have been on atenolol for 10 years and told to change over to lisinopril so i did about 4 days ago....thus far my BP has sky rocketed as well as my heart rate ...i just switched back to the atenolol and already feel better within an hour of taking it ... is this normal?
It will be helpful if you mention the reason for change of your medicine.
It can be possible that change in blood pressure medicine which you have been taking for long duration can result in increase in blood pressure. Atenolol is a beta blocker and stopping it can cause increase in blood pressure and heart rate.
You should gradually decrease the dose of atenolol while adjusting the dose of lisinopril accordingly. This should be done under medical supervision only.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help. Regards. Thanks.
