Is It Normal To Have Cheek Pain And Throat Pain After Tonsils Removed?

My 4 year old daughter had her tonsils and adenoids removed and a turbinoplasty done 5 days ago. She is complaining of severe cheek pain on the right side. She is also still having alot of throat pain and needing the pain meds every 4-6 hours. What is the cheek pain and is this much throat pain still normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
After any operation local pain remains for few days as there might be having some soreness and induration.
As healing progresses, pain will be subsided.
During tonsillectomy your mouth is keeping wide open leading to strain on cheek muscles giving rise cheek pain for few days.
Nothing to worry, do antiseptic gargles.
Ok and take care.
