Is It Normal To Have Lumps Under The Skin In The Heeling Process Of Shingles?

Hi this is linda, I got shingles in jan. had the rash for about a week, thought they were going away just this week I started having pain, and notice I had some lumps were the shingles were, a lot of pain, but the lumps are way under my skin, is this normal?

Hi,

Shingles also called herpes zoster caused by VZV virus. When the skin lesions heal, sometime there may be the development of fibrosis in the dermis leading to tough skin. So, do not worry. Let all lesions heal. Then, if there are fibrous swellings or hypertrophic scars, then consult the dermatologist. He might give Intradermal steroid injection, which may reduce the swelling.
