Is It Ok To Get Mri Done With Mesh For Hernia Repair?
Hello, I needed an MRI for my knee to rule out a miniscus tear When they found out I had a mesh hernia repair they advised me against the MRI becuase they did not know the contents of the patch whether it contained cooper, stanless steel or titanium
I am not sure of itscontant but I do know three time in the last year when taveling the hernis mess pacth showedup in screening when I tilsthe diagnostic place this they ssaid no to the MRI that it could cause the patch to move, tear r fail
It is important to know the material used for mesh repair and if it is MRI friendly. Even in case of MRI friendly mesh used, the MRI scan knee is best done only after 6 months following surgery. If the material is not MRI friendly then you should not go for MRI scan knee. It will cause displacement and heat generation which may damage tissues at hernia site.
