Is It Possible To Do A Hip Replacement With A Dead Person S Hip?

Hey , my name is stacey I am suffering from an AVN.....last year I did the core decompression surgery and three months later the pain came back. Today I saw my doctor and asked about the hip replacement, he advised me not to proceed with it because of my age (24) and my sickle cells anemia. He is scared that my hip won t last ten to fifteen years which is the norm for normal patients n that it might last only five years based on my medical history n my funny body system. My question is: is it possible to replace my hip with a dead person hip? Thank you

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
hi stacey,
as far as present medical advances are concerned your hip can't be replaced with a dead person's hip. since you are suffering from avn and sickle cell anaemia and you are just 24 years of age and already have undergone core decompression the treatment options are very limited. but if the pain is unbearable then your treating doctor might have to take a call. in the meantime learn hip strengthening exercises from a physiotherapist and avoid smoking, any steroid intake.
all the best
regards
