Is It Possible To Gain Weight With Type 2 Diabetes?
I'm a 58 year old woman and I seem to have all of the symptoms of type 2 diabetes except 1...major weight gain instead of weight loss! My Mother and her father had type 2 diabetes and my son and grandson have type 1. Is it possible to be gaining weight with type 2 diabetes?<br>
Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query
There are a couple of issues associated to this query. i will explain them one by one.
One of the most common cause of type 2 diabetes is being overweight. The obese patients commonly develop resistance to the insulin and therefore develop diabetes. So obesity is an inherent part of diabetes.
Secondly, most doctors usually prescribe a tablet for type 2 diabetes. Now I am not sure what your family members are taking for diabetes (its not mentioned in the query), but many tablets also cause weight gain. Its the side effect of the tablets to cause weight gain.
Finally, treatment with tablets and insulin is not enough. A strict diet control and regular exercise to control weight is a part of the therapy. Make sure that is also happening. Loss of weight will in the long term help you control the sugars better.
I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above so i can be of help further. Best of luck.
