Is It Possible To Have A Full Recovery From A Intra Articular Fracture Calcanues?
is it possible to have a full recovery from a intra-articular fracture calcaneus. I was six weeks out when diagnosed before I was told a bad ankle sprain. now almost eight weeks later Dr. says my heel is healed, and t o move forward with wedge heal shoes but pain is better but still hard to walk without some support. o
Recovery after an intra articular fracture calcaneus depends on * the amount of comminution of fracture fragments * the adequacy of internal fixation method * the extent of involvement of the subtalar joint
Generally, it takes around 8-12 weeks for this fracture to heal fully.
This is also to let you know that some amount of arthritic changes in the subtalar joint tend to occur after an intra articular fracture calcaneum. This generally contributes to the pain in the foot after many weeks or months after surgery.
I suggest you to consult your treating doctor and follow his advice.
Hope this information is helpful . Good day
