Is It Possible To Regain Nerve Sensation After Neurectomy?
i had inguinal hernia surgery back in february this year and have had pain and went back to the surgeon and he said the mesh he put in is scaring. He gave me a multiple steroid shots over a period of time and it felt somewhat better but it is back. he gave me 2 more steroid shots on 2 separate visits and said it is still scaring (this was back in October). He then prescribed Feldene and it did nothing and he is saying that the mesh is up against the nerves and now I have scheduled a neurectomy to cut the nerves to get rid of the pain. Many friends say that I should go and have a second opinion. I asked him will I have sensation again and he said it would come back in 6 weeks. Does this sound right??
After neurectomy it takes about 90 days for the regeneration of the nerve.Numbness disappears after regeneration of nerve. If regeneration doesn't take place in 3 months, it rarely does afterwards.
