Hello there.. I need an OBGYN physician to answer my questions .. Q1) Is it safe to take duphaston to delay my period...my period usually regular every 30 days... it did not come last month but i am not pregnant.. if it will be on time this month, it will come after 4-5 days.. I need to delay for 7 days because i am going on trip.. Q2) Duphaston or Provera !! which one come with less side effect ( nausea ....etc) Thank you in advance
Hi aoalkhaldi,
Thanks for writing in to Healthcare Magic!
IF you had regular period during previous times and missed it for whole month now then you must consult a gynecologist to rule out pregnancy- get serum hCG levels and an ultrasound abdomen.
The drugs provera and duphaston both contain synthetic progesterone and are contraindicated if you happen to be pregnant.
If you are sure that you are not pregnant then you can take either of them, side effect profile is similar.
Take the medicine under the supervision of a physician.
If you have any further query please let me know I would try to answer it for you.
Wish you a great health!
